Panel one was created on a CNC mill and is an exploration of how a ubiquitous 2D pattern could be translated into the third dimension, exploring some of the same issues traditional Islamic Muqarnas do. Three-dimensional patterns, disconnected from the continuous 2D pattern, emerge and collide in different areas.
The second panels are cast in concrete and plaster from a foam CNC-milled mold. They attempt to create a second and third continual pattern in their tiling, dissolving the mundane rectangular shape of the panel and creating extremely varied views of the piece from different directions.
