The aim of the film is to incorporate camera movement, strategic moments of a static camera, and framing along with various editing techniques to highlight certain aspects of the city movement and paint, in a way, two different pictures of its life. The narrative is ambiguous as to avoid being too heavy-handed towards a particular reading, as part of the concept of the film is that the city can be experienced in so many different ways. Generally the concept is of a traveler on a train, coming to the city and anticipating it along the way. The film is through his eyes and begins only with what he physically sees as he rides the train, but throughout the course of the film begins to fade and then cut to his thoughts of the city through associating similar movements or object shapes seen from the train with those in the city. It is set at a slow tempo at the beginning, giving one reading of the city, then perceptually quickens the pace, yet with the same content and speed, giving a second reading.
